Pasigarbo Sa Sugbo 2023 Awarding Ceremonies Postponed Due to Unresolved Issues

The Cebu Provincial Government announced on Monday, August 28, that the awarding ceremonies of the Pasigarbo Sa Sugbo 2023, a cultural festival showcasing the best of Cebu’s towns and cities, have been postponed indefinitely. The event was supposed to be held at the Carcar City Sports Complex on the same day.

According to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, the decision was made after some issues regarding the judging and scoring of the festival entries were raised by some participants and organizers.

She said that these issues need to be addressed and settled before proceeding with the awarding ceremonies.

“We want to ensure that the Pasigarbo Sa Sugbo 2023 is fair and transparent to all the participants and the public. We do not want to tarnish the reputation and integrity of this prestigious event that showcases the rich culture and heritage of our province,” Garcia said in a press conference.

She added that a new date for the awarding ceremonies will be announced as soon as possible, and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.

The Pasigarbo Sa Sugbo 2023 is a revival of the annual festival that was discontinued in 2015. It features 44 contingents from different towns and cities of Cebu, who compete in various categories such as street dancing, ritual showdown, festival queen, and float parade.

The event aims to promote tourism, culture, and unity among Cebuanos.
