Former Manila Vice Mayor Danilo Lacuna Passes Away at 86

Manila, Philippines – The former Vice Mayor of Manila, Danilo Bautista Lacuna, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the age of 86. His daughter, Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, announced the sad news on her social media account.

According to Mayor Lacuna-Pangan, the eldest of the five children, her father died early Sunday morning surrounded by his family. She described him as “a man of great service and compassion” who touched many lives and left a lasting legacy.

“A man of great service and compassion, Danny touched many, creating a life that spans further than just his years and into the hearts of us all where he will remain forever,” she wrote.

She also thanked everyone who expressed their condolences and prayers for their family. She said that the details of the wake will be announced later.

Danilo Lacuna was a veteran politician who served as Manila City Councilor from 1968 to 1975 and Vice Mayor of the City in the years 1970 to 1971, 1988 to 1992, and most recently 1998 to 2007. He also founded the local political party, Asenso Manileño, which produced former Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie “Inday”Lacuna and five children, Honey, Lei, Dennis, Liza, and Philip.
