PBA Legend Alapag Joins Sacramento Kings Coaching Staff

Filipino fans will get to see more of Jimmy Alapag in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Alapag, one-time MVP in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), has announced that he will be joining coach Mike Brown as player development coach of the Sacramento Kings for the upcoming NBA season.

“A DREAM COME TRUE. Incredibly blessed and thankful for this opportunity,” the six-time PBA champion posted on social media.

The Filipino-American took the PBA by storm during his decorated playing years.

Alapag joined the PBA in 2003 and won the Rookie of the Year honors.

As one of the main men of Talk ’N Text, Alapag became an 11-time PBA All-Star and collared two PBA Finals MVP awards.

After retiring from the PBA, the former Gilas Pilipinas captain began honing his coaching skills with the national team, the Meralco Bolts, and Alab Pilipinas.

Alapag flew to the US to pursue his coaching career and got a huge break when he was recruited to be a part of the coaching staff of the Kings in the Summer League back in 2019.
