Bago City Softball Belles win Junior League Softball World Series

The Bago City Softball Belles of the Philippines, representing Asia Pacific, have won the 2023 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington, USA.

The team from Negros Occidental, Philippines, swept the series with a perfect 7-0 record, defeating teams from Canada and the USA.

The Bago City Softball Belles clinched the title on Saturday, August 5, 2023 (Sunday in the Philippines), with a 5-4 victory over the West Region champions from California.

The team scored three runs in the first inning and held on to their lead until the end.

The West Region team rallied in the seventh inning, scoring two runs and putting runners on second and third base, but the Bago City Softball Belles managed to get the final out and secure the win.

The team’s coach, Francis Fuentes, praised his players for their hard work and dedication.

Pride of the Philippines

He said that they trained for six months before the tournament and faced many challenges along the way.

He also thanked Bago City Mayor Nicholas M. Yulo for his all-out support to the team.

Mayor Yulo congratulated the team for bringing honor and pride to Bago City and the Philippines.

He said that he was very proud of their achievement and that they were an inspiration to many young athletes.

Yulo also promised to give them a hero’s welcome when they return home.

The Bago City Softball Belles are the second team from the Philippines to win the Junior League Softball World Series, following the Iloilo Province Softball Girls who won in 2018.

The Junior League Softball World Series is an annual tournament for girls aged 13 to 14 years old from around the world. It is organized by Little League International, which also hosts other baseball and softball tournaments for different age groups.
